Playa del Carmen, Mexico is one of the fastest growing cities in Latin America and at the same time one of the most underserved Christian communities. People from all over the world are moving here each month as well as people from other regions in Mexico. There are thousands of Expats and very few English-speaking churches. In 2016 while on Sabbatical in Playa del Carmen, we realized this was not just a place of rest but a place of missions. God placed on our hearts: “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.”
After serving 30 years in the United States as both a youth pastor and a senior pastor, we decided to take a leap of faith. We would not make just another short-term mission trip to Mexico but we would call this place our home.
We have not regretted our decision and have established roots in the community on which to maintain regular worship opportunities for Expats as well as outreach for the needy in the local community. We are excited for what God has in store and welcome support and involvement from those who might visit the area looking for either short- or long-term ministry opportunities.
